Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a person from Chandina in Cumilla after he was found making and selling forged COVID-19 certificates at his shop. He was arrested from Bismillah Enterprise at Chandina Bazar area on Sunday afternoon.
Arrested Morshed Alam, 35, is the son of Idris Ali of village Jafrabad under Debidwar upazila.
Addressing a press conference at the office of Cumilla RAB, Talukder Najmus Sakib, commanding officer of CPC-2 of RAB-11, said acting on a tip-off, they learnt that various kinds of forged reports and certificates were made and sold at a shop named "Bismillah Enterprise" at Chandina Bazar in Chandina upazila. The shop also sells COVID-19 ceritificates.
On the basis of the information, the RAB-11 personnel went there in guise of customers and sought COVID-19 reports from Morshed. RAB learnt that Morshed made forged COVID-19 positive reports using the LabAid Hospital's name. Later, RAB personnel arrested him from Bismillah Enterprise shop on Sunday morning.
Najmus Sakib further said Morshed Alam has been making forged COVID-19 positive reports, academic certificates, transcripts, National Identity Cards using photoshop on his computer. He used to take different amounts of money from different customers.
RAB said a large quantity of forged certificates, computer, printer and scanner were seized from Bismillah Enterprise.
Legal steps have been taken in this regard.
