IS claims carrying out explosion in Dhaka's Pallabi Police
Islamic State (IS), an international militant organisation, has claimed carrying out explosion inside the Pallabi Police Station in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka on Wednesday.
Five people including four policemen were injured in the violent explosion that had happened in the morning.
In a Twitter post to SITE Intelligence Group, the IS has claimed that it carried out the explosion.
The IS also claimed carrying out the attack at Pallabi Police Station in a post sent to the Twitter account of Rita Katz, director of the website which monitors militant threats and attacks around the world.
In a Twitter at about 8:46pm on Wednesday, Rita Katz also said the IS claimed carrying out an attack targetting the Police Headquarters in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka.
The Site Intelligence Group also identified that it is the first attack of the IS in Bangladesh after August 2019.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) public relations department's deputy commissioner Walid Hossain also confirmed about the explosion inside the Pallabi Police Station on Wednesday morning.
The injured were Pallabi Police Station's inspector (Investigation) Imran, 48, sub-inspector Sajib, 30, ASI Angkush, 28, Rumi, 28 and civilian Reaz.
Two of the injured policemen are receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, while one is taking treatment at an eye hospital in the capital.
