Each of the six accused arrested in two separate bus arson cases filed with the city's Shahbagh Police Station were placed on a three-day remand on Friday. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondol placed them on remand after they were produced before the court by Shahbagh police.
The accused placed on remand were Hazrat Ali, Moinuddin, Abu Sayeed Shanto, Abul Kalam Azad, Abu Sufian and Sohel. Of the accused, first three were placed on remand in one case, while the last three accused were placed on remand in another case.
Earlier on Thursday night and Friday morning, nine cases were filed accusing 434 persons in connection with the incidents of setting fire on buses at different places in Dhaka on Thursday. The cases were filed under Possession of Explosives and Special Powers Act. Of them, 25 accused have so far been arrested.
Walid Hossain, Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said two cases were filed with Motijheel Police Station, two cases with Shahbagh Police Station, two cases with Paltan Police Station, and one case with Kalabagan, Vatara and Bangshal police stations.
