Novelist Milan Kundera has died

Milan Kundera’s writings were characterized by combining various theories and philosophies with everyday reality. He developed a strong individual streak in this regard. Received praise from many readers.

This writer rarely gave interviews. He believed that writers would speak through their writings. His first novel ‘The Joke’ was published in 1967. There he presented a harsh picture of the then Czechoslovak communist regime. This book was his first step towards becoming known as an exiled dissident, expelled from the party.

In a 1976 interview with the French daily Le Mans, he said, ‘To call his work political is an oversimplification and, in doing so, obscures the true significance of his writing.’
